Is detachment the missing link to an abundant life? (replay)
Life is moving around us at a pace that is soul-crushing. It feels like trying to catch your breath under water. And what's worse is that it often feels like there is no end in sight. Can you relate? But what if there is a better way? What if there is a way you could detach right now, in a healthy way, and usher in a fresh breath of abundance? I believe there is and I'm going to share with you how...

Light, Love, & Peace,
Jaclyn Steele
Hello, and happy Wednesday to you, I hope you're having a fabulous day, wherever you are. This is self worth with Jaclyn Steele. And today I'm going to be talking about detachment. Wow, detachment. Yeah. And as I mentioned, in January of this year, in season four, I'm really sharing the four most popular episodes from season three. Obviously, there are some good nuggets in these episodes that really resonated with you guys. And they're worth listening to, again, if you have already listened and listened to them, and worth listening to for the first time, if you haven't already. So today is about detachment and how this could lead to an abundant life. Life is moving around us at a pace that is soul crushing. It feels like trying to catch your breath underwater, sometimes, like raise your hand with me if you can relate right? And what's worse is that it often feels like there is no end in sight. But what if there is a better way? What if there is a way you could detach right now in a healthy way, and usher in a fresh breath of abundance? I believe there is. In fact, I know there is. And I share it with you in this episode. So I hope that it resonates. I hope that you enjoy it and I hope that it lifts you up beyond your wildest dreams. Have the best day. Well, hello beautiful listeners and welcome to episode 126 of self worth with Jaclyn Steele. In this beautiful and toasty month of August, our theme is abundance and today I'm talking about why detachment of all things can lead to an abundant life. At first thought, the concepts of detachment and abundance seem incongruent. But as I'm learning, they are not. Okay, so allow me to set the stage for a few moments. Humanity is tired. Right? Gosh, I can just feel that as I say it, humanity is tired. We are running at a pace that has not yet been recorded in human history. We are constantly stimulated by the news, social media, the access everyone has to us. This pace of life is frightening. It is beyond what our souls can process because the information coming at us at any given moment seems to be endless. It used to be that we were responsible for ourselves and the community we were in touch with physically around us. Now, we are plugged into a world community and friends, unfortunately, trauma abounds. And it used to be that we dealt with trauma on a personal and local level. Now we are dealing with trauma on a global level. Our physical and spiritual selves are not equipped to handle the weight of the world. On a daily basis. Our physical and spiritual selves are not equipped to run a race at a pace that is never ending. So many of us tell me if you can relate to this. Spend our weeks counting down the days until the weekend. And then we spend the weekend counting down the days until work begins again. We numb ourselves to cope. studies are showing our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter due to the constant stimulation on our phones, stimulation and distraction. What a toxic combination. When was the last time you watched a movie at home? All the way through without your phone without getting distracted by something tech related. My guess is that it's been a while and maybe you don't watch movies at all because they feel like too big of a focused commitment. I can relate to that. And I've been there friends, our souls are starving. I've been feeling this myself. Like I'm constantly underwater and trying to catch my breath. The de loop of constant stimulation and people needing things from me is crashing. And in turn, I'm craving stillness. I'm craving lifting my head above the water and sucking in some fresh air and silence. I want this deeply and I want this into Additionally, I want that air like my life depends on it. Can you relate to this, I want less on my calendar, I want less phone, less computer, less screen time in general, I want more nature, more breath, more meditation, more time to cook, and do yoga and sit quietly and read a book. I want simplicity. And there is something deep in my soul crying out for an analog life. My husband and I are making plans to buy some land and start a big garden and teach our boy to love the dirt and the open air. I fantasize about this a lot. Not because I don't think it will happen. I know it will. It's just a matter of time. But I fantasize about it because my soul is so weary and thirsty, and that life seems like a cool drink from a fresh spring. The thing is, life is happening right now. My son is six months old today as I write this. And I don't want to wish time away. I want to be here now. In my daily affirmations I write I am a present and joyful wife and mother. And I genuinely want to be that every day. But right now, again, as I'm writing this, my cup is not full. I've had too much responsibility recently, too much travel and not enough time to sleep and simply catch up to a baseline level. When I'm taking care of myself, I can handle anything. But in this state of weariness, the slightest addition to my plate can send me over the edge. Can you relate to this Today's episode is powered by in bloom. This is one of my favorite supplement companies and they offer a holistic approach to nutrition centered on physical health, mental clarity, and beauty from the inside out. They have nutrition from nature. So it's plant based vegan, gluten free, no synthetic ingredients non GMO, sugar free, are you with me? They have essential vitamins enhancing nutrients, multiplex blends, and most of their supplements are powders. Why? Because powders are more bio available, which means they enter your blood flow and digestive systems more efficiently. They are more readily available for your body to accept and digest. And they're easy to use. They can be shaken or whisked into a liquid or blended into wellness recipes and smoothies. And the website to be in bloom has many recipes I highly recommend checking that out. Also their ingredients are sustainably sourced. Their packaging is earth friendly, including Omni degradable, they're reusable, and they have recycled options, which is so cool. I literally have every single supplement that they have on their website. But one of the supplements that I go to regularly is their plant protein and anti stress herbal blend. I drink this almost every day. As a new mom cooking lunch is just not really an option for me right now. So making a protein shake, knowing I have something healthy and something super quick is just totally what I'm into and their protein is delicious. It satisfies your hunger. It improves your glucose levels and it feeds your body what it craves and helps combat the negative impacts of stress. It's got a green protein blend reishi mushroom elderberry cinnamon bark, ginger, dandelion root, cocoa, I'm telling you this protein is so delicious. I mix it with almond milk and then call it a day. Again I have every supplement that is on their website because I love to be curious and try different things. And I have enjoyed every single one also absolutely love the probiotic all right to try out to be in bloom go to to be in bloom.com and use code Jaclyn Steele 10 off for 10% off your order. Again that is to be in bloom.com and use code Jaclyn Steele 10 off for 10% off your order. I know you will absolutely love this supplement brand. When I get to this point, I usually go hunting in my library. I like to think of it as a sole apothecary past Jacqueline curated quite a collection of incred Well books, many of which I have read, and some of which I bought intuitively, knowing that at some point, I would need the cell they have to offer. When I went hunting a couple of days ago, I came across, get back your life, everyday practices for a world gone mad by John Eldridge. His book Wild at Heart changed me when I read it almost a decade ago. And as I plugged this book, get back your life off the shelf, I knew it was going to hit just right. I started reading it. And wow, every word is like deep nourishment for my soul. And I'm drinking it in. Eldridge talks about benevolent detachment in this text, or in other words, kind detachment. Benevolent detachment isn't about excuse my language guys, plug the children's ears. Benevolent detachment isn't about not giving a fuck. It's about knowing there is a time to care and a time to let it go and give it to God. We as humans, don't accomplish much through worry. But we do accomplish a lot by letting go. And so Eldred, his argument is not to bury your head in the sand, or ignore, but to consciously give over all the burdens you are carrying to God, over and over and over again, until it feels like your soul has some space to breathe. The worry around your children give it to God. The pain you carry over the recent school shootings, get to God, the trauma you carry over what happened to you in the past, give it to God, the decision fatigue you have over whether or not to get a new car, get to God, the anxiety you have over how you will complete your to do list, give it to God. We were never meant to be carrying so much all at once. This is not a recipe for an abundant or toy filled life. In Jesus's day, when he felt burdened, he would drop everything and go spend time in nature with God. It seems like nowadays, our culture has taught us that when we feel burdened, it's okay to reach for a drink, or an edible or a sleeping pill, or whatever distraction we need in order to numb out. But what if benevolent detachment conch consciously on enmeshing Our lives, leads us to a place that we wouldn't need to numb out at all because our souls were peaceful. Maybe not all the time. But most of the time. I like this idea. In fact, this idea lights me up. And when I feel lit up like this, I know I'm on to something that feels like alignment. What if we really didn't carry the weight of the world on our shoulders? What if we wished everyone light and love and peace, but we knew when to stop pouring into them? I'm not saying move to a far off land and be a hermit. But I am saying respect your soul and what it needs in order to thrive. Are you filled up to the point where you have something to give? Are you burnt out and trying to pour from an empty vessel? This is an important delineation. Even our ever present cell phones need to recharge. When was the last time you allowed yourself to recharge or better yet, turn off for a while. I need this in large amounts. I give a lot. And I bet you do too. So this leads me to abundance, our theme of the month how do we create more abundance in our lives? Is it by having good boundaries with people and our time? Like I mentioned in last week's episode, absolutely. But if we want to have abundance on a soul level, it requires benevolent detachment and awareness around the energetic burdens that are weighing us down and a conscious giving them over to God over and over. And over until a sigh of relief is felt in the depth of our bones. We can care about the well being of our brother without enmeshing ourselves in his life and taking on his responsibilities. We can love our children deeply and unceasingly without agonizing over every decision we make for them. We can work hard and be effective without giving all All of us over to the cause. We can create a difference in this world without letting it rob us of our joy because of the constant stream of tragedies. If you don't believe me, let me ask you this. Are you more effective in your life when you are burnt out, or when you are well rested, and have had some joy in your life? You know the answer to this, we cannot help others if we haven't had help ourselves. Abundance really is everywhere. But we will never find it or feel that if we keep our heads underwater, so beautiful listeners. This is permission for myself. And for you to benevolently detach as much and as often as you need to fill up to lift your head above the fray and to drink in the fresh air to be a vessel that is brimming over with life giving water. There is enough of whatever it is you are seeking, but it will require you to stop and make space for it and drink it in. As I wrap up today's message. My hope is that you will stop for a moment and soak in some stillness. May this be the first step on a beautiful and abundant new path of taking back your life.
